From Michael Durrant …
Dear I am writing to ask whether you might be willing to share details of a Greg Smallman 2008 cedar top guitar with members of the York Classical Guitar Society? I am currently looking to sell this guitar, which I have played for many years, and am hopeful that an active player might be interested in purchasing it. You can view the listing for this guitar on the London Guitar Studio website here: https://www.londonguitarstudio.com/p/greg-smallman-sons-cedar-top-guitar-2008

About Smallman Guitars
When it comes to the world of classical guitar craftsmanship, few names stand as tall as Greg Smallman. An Australian luthier with a vision that transcends tradition, Smallman has redefined the art of guitar making, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music. Greg Smallman’s journey began with a passion for both engineering and music. With an engineering background, he embarked on a collaboration that would change the course of his life – a partnership with legendary guitarist John Williams. This union marked the birth of innovations that would forever alter the landscape of guitar construction.
Central to Smallman’s innovation is his ingenious lattice bracing system. Departing from traditional fan bracing, Smallman introduced a lattice pattern that optimizes soundboard flexibility and resonance. This unique design contributes to an unparalleled projection and tonal richness, making Smallman guitars highly sought after by professional guitarists across the globe. Smallman’s departure from convention continued with his use of laminated wood for the back and sides of his guitars. This daring choice not only enhances the structural stability of the instrument but also contributes to its powerful projection. The use of laminated wood, combined with Smallman’s lattice bracing, results in a harmonious balance between volume, tone, and responsiveness.

Greg Smallman’s influence extends far beyond the confines of his workshop. His guitars have graced some of the grandest stages, enriching the performances of virtuoso musicians worldwide. Renowned guitarists like John Williams have embraced the Smallman sound, showcasing the luthier’s ability to elevate their artistry.

Best wishes,
Michael

From Keith Watson…..
Malcolm Brooks' last guitar, left unfinished by him in 2002 and finished by Dave Gregory in early 2016.

Top - Spruce
Back and Sides - Flamed Maple
Fretboard - Mahogany
Machine Heads - Schaller

An unusual feature of this instrument is that the neck may be removed to enable minor adjustments to the action if needed.
I suggest a price of £2000.

Best wishes

From John Wright…..

Asturias Standard (Short) guitar
I am not a member of your Society but I am wondering if anybody would be interested in purchasing my guitar. I have played for a number of years but have had to stop due to arthritis in my hands. I purchased the guitar new in October 2006 for £1,200 from the Classical Guitar Centre (Birmingham).
It's specifications are hand crafted - scale length 63mm - solid cedar top - back & side Indian rosewood - neck Honduras mahogany - fingerboard Indian rosewood. My asking price is £600 and if anyone is interested I can be contacted at Stephilcar@hotmail.co.uk or by phone of 01723 370532.
I live in Scarborough but can come to York during the day if convenient. If you can put this on your board I would be most grateful. Thanks.
